Moving Forward
As you may have heard, we did not receive the grant that so many people worked hard on. Putting in countless hours and learning new skills to try and better our community. While we are disheartened by this news we are in no way deterred. If anything, we are reinvigorated! We will pull ourselves up by our bootstraps and find a new way forward.
Next Steps
The plan moving forward is to complete the BTC Center previously known as the Cupola Building, in phases. So what does that look like?
Phase 1: Demolition of the unusable back portion of the building. Sealing the exterior of the building, new roof and roof decking, brick tuck pointing, windows, door and restored storefronts. Update Feb 2026-Phase 1 is complete except the final touches on the storefront.
Phase 2: North side leased space, which includes filling old basement, pouring cement floor, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and construction of interior space. The office space has floor plans for a waiting room, three private offices and a conference room and restroom. Udate March 2026- Phase 2 is complete with BTC Financial Management expected to begin their long term lease in April 2026
Phase 3: Community Center construction which includes a poured cement floor, electrical, plumbing and HVAC.
Dream Scenario: Finish the second story for possible rented business space and/or a business incubator.
Funding
So how are we going to pay for all of this?
We currently only have enough funding to complete Phase 1 and 2 of the project. This is from the money that was raised by our community, a generous $400,000.
We are diligently applying for funding in the form of grants and state tax credits.
Community fundraising will continue.
